Journey Updates

The road, one step at a time.

Adoption unfolds slowly. Here's where we are, the paperwork, the training, the waiting, and eventually, the "yes."

  1. Step 01

    Complete

    Making the decision

The moment we knew our family wasn't done growing. Long conversations, a lot of thinking, and a quiet 'yes' from both of us.

  2. Step 02

    In progress

    Choosing our path

Researching agencies, weighing domestic vs. international, learning the vocabulary of adoption. It's a lot, and we're taking it one call at a time.

  3. Step 03

    Up next

    The home study

Inspections, interviews, background checks, references. A stranger with a clipboard walking through our very lived-in home. We're ready.

  4. Step 04

    Coming

    The wait

The hardest part, we're told. Trusting timing that isn't ours. Preparing a room, and a heart, for someone we haven't met.

  5. Step 05

    Someday soon

    The match

The phone call we're hoping for. A name. A story. The moment our family finally feels whole.

Questions we get

The honest answers.

Why adoption?

Because we always knew our family could grow in more than one way, and adoption has been on our hearts for a long time. It's not a backup plan; it's the plan.

Open, closed, or somewhere in between?

We're open to it all, open, semi-open, or closed. Every situation is different, and we want to follow the lead of the birth family and what feels right for the child.

Does race or location matter to you?

No. Race doesn't matter to us, and location doesn't either. We're open to a child of any background, from anywhere, and we'll go where we need to go to bring them home.

Domestic or international?

We're currently pursuing domestic infant adoption, but our research is ongoing. We'll share more as decisions solidify.

How long will it take?

Honestly? Nobody knows. Some families wait months, some wait years. We're trying to trust the process, and the timing.

How can I help?

Encouragement and shares mean more than we can say. If you'd like to help financially, we have a Support page, every bit truly matters.
