Two people, a happy home, and room for more.

We're Alexis and Michael Campisi. Our story started in September of 2019, a first date that turned into everything. Six months later, on March 18, 2020, we got married. The world was going quiet around us, but ours was just getting louder.

Today our home holds two little boys, Mikah (born November 24, 2017) and Marco (born October 5, 2020), a devoted black and white Havanese named Lucie, and a flock of chickens who greet every morning with opinions. It's busy. It's loud. It's the best.

Michael is Mikah's stepdad, and honestly, the best one we could have ever hoped for. He showed up, chose Mikah completely, and has loved him like his own from day one. Watching them together, the inside jokes, the fort-building, the quiet moments, is one of the great gifts of our life.

Serving in the military was Michael's lifelong dream, the kind you carry with you for decades, quietly, patiently. At 32, that dream finally came true when he joined the Marine Corps Reserves. It was a long time coming, and watching him step into it has been one of the proudest chapters of our life together.

Life in the Reserves has a rhythm of its own, one weekend a month and two weeks each summer, Michael trades home for training. His military role is Motor Transport, driving heavy-duty vehicles on missions that take him across the country. We're proud of the work he does, and we've grown into a family that knows how to hold down the fort while he's away and celebrate loudly the moment he's home.

The Reserves also gave us something we've always wanted: to stay rooted right here in Pennsylvania. Close to family. Close to the community we love. Close to the little house we're preparing for one more.

We live in a small town where most people know each other and watch out for one another. We're walking distance from every school in our district, the community pool, and a park with a playground. It's the kind of place where kids can grow up outside, where neighbors wave from porches, and where a village really does help raise a family.

Alexis serves the community as a member of the local Borough Council, where she oversees community outreach, the work of neighbors looking out for neighbors. Between us, service is a language we speak fluently.

By day, Michael works on the Public Works Crew, helping keep the community clean, safe, and running smoothly. Alexis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication: Public Relations, and keeps a busy mix of her own, part time marketing work, raising and selling chickens from the flock, and creating artwork to share with others.

Part of our story is harder to tell. Marco's birth was traumatic, and it left Alexis unable to carry more biological children. That single moment changed the trajectory of our family, the picture we thought we were painting suddenly looked different. It took time to grieve, and time to see what was still possible.

For a while, we thought surrogacy might be our path forward. After a lot of research, honest conversations, and quiet nights weighing what felt right, we came to see that adoption was where our family was meant to grow.

Since 2024, we've been foster parents. It has been one of the most meaningful things we've ever done, loving children fully, knowing the goal is reunification, and cheering for families to come back together. Fostering has stretched our hearts in ways we didn't know they could stretch.

Since 2023, we've also opened our home as a host family for exchange students, welcoming a girl from Spain and a boy from Thailand. Getting to know their cultures, foods, and traditions has been one of the most rewarding parts of the last few years, and it's made our world feel bigger and closer all at once.

Faith is something we're still figuring out. We were both raised on Christian values, and many of those values still shape the way we love, parent, and show up for others. We attend church services with family a few times a year, and our boys have gone to Vacation Bible School. We deeply respect all religious and cultural backgrounds, and we'll thoughtfully honor and incorporate our child's heritage and beliefs into their life with us.

And now, we're ready to grow. We're active, we're outdoorsy, we love animals fiercely, and we believe that family is the best thing you can spend your life building. Which is why we're here, expanding ours through adoption.
